On April 20th, 2018, Andrew Dalton nicknamed Shaquille O’Neal “The Big Shakespeare” in light of his appearance on Poetry in America to discuss Edward Hirsch’s poem “Fast Break.” Shaq said of series host Elisa New’s parsing skills: “When she broke it down intelligently for me, I was very astounded and very amazed.” Professor New said of Shaq: “He’s a learner!”
